Cotinine (also known as (5S)-1-methyl-5-(3-pyridyl)pyrrolidin-2-one and Scotine) is a stimulant alkaloid and the main metabolite of nicotine.

Pharmacology

Cotinine binds to many nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at a lower potency than nicotine. It has a biological half-life of 20 hours.[citation needed]
