Experience report

I Started the Day With Playing Some Roblox And Doing Chores As my Aunt and Uncle Were Gone on Their Anniversary. I thought We Should go to Target After We Were Done With Our Chores, With the Intention Of Just Getting Snacks. Around 1 to 2 hours Later We Finally left to go to Target. It takes probably 10 minutes to get there as we took the City Bus, We arrived at target around 4:25 pm. We were looking around the store for what we wanted as i stumbled upon a 300 pill bottle of DPH and decided to put it in the cart. Around 20 Minutes later we leave and get home around 4:50-5:00 pm,At approximately 5:10 pm I Ingest the 28 Dph pills(700 mg).
Timeline

T+ 0:00 - Ingested 700mg of DPH and for around 15-25 Minutes i felt nothing but a little sick, I was just watching my brothers play Overwatch 2 for this period of time.

T+ 0:30 - At this point I'm feeling a bug crawling on my stomach under my shirt and lifting up my shirt to see a Clear almost transparent spider walking on my stomach. I Get up and go outside with my dogs and the spider has disappeared,I am walking around in my backyard and start seeing frogs hopping around in the yard. For some reason it just made sense and I did not question it.

T+ 0:45 - I Am now back inside and Start seeing spiders appear on my Pants which are black giving the Transparent Spiders a Black look, I start shaking and kicking my legs to get the spiders off,I walk to my pantry to throw something away when i see little guys in my trash having a battle. The vision was so clear I was staring at it for 5 minutes at least.

T+ 1:10 - Now I start seeing Spiders everywhere. I mean on the couches and the floor they even start invading my bed. I Saw a centipede crawl under the couch so I was afraid to sit down anywhere Which caused me to continue pacing around my house for almost the entire trip, i remember looking at the walls and they looked almost static like. I Was now hearing people talking to me that I would hang out with at school. It caused me to speak to them without knowing as my brother would keep asking who i was talking to.

T+ 1:40 - This is Around when I start watching Youtube for only probably 10 minutes as I keep forgetting what I was even doing. I was watching a video when I saw the controller fall out of my hands. This caused me to get scared as i thought it was going to be loud but right before it hit the ground i realised the controller was never in my hand it was on the table. This happened probably 3 times before I turned the tv off and just began pacing again.

T+ 2:00 - I Saw someone looking at me through the Window so I decided to look at the window only to see my aunt and uncle were home and i could hear them talking to some one. I started to say That my aunt and uncle were home but my brother looked out the window and saw no one was home and told me they were in a different city at the time. My brother was tripsitting me luckfully or else I would have got caught, He even had to help me drink water because I could not go into the kitchen as there were spiders everywhere. It was like the house was just a giant spider web.

T+ 2:45 - After Drinking water I started to see my toes turn into numbers and the number would go up every time a spider would appear on my pants and legs. Around 7:30 pm I finally started to calm down and sat down for the first time in the entire trip. Only 10 minutes after I sat down I fell asleep which I do not know how as I was so itchy that entire night from the Formication.

T+ 6:30 - I Woke up the next day feeling grateful that the spiders and hallucinations were gone. It was almost like God spared my life because I thought that during that trip I was surely gonna die. I learned that if you are talking a high dose of DPH to always have a trip sitter as i think being that delirious and having really bad slurred speech would have got me caught if there were any adults around.

History and culture

Diphenhydramine was discovered in 1943 by George Rieveschl, a former professor at the University of Cincinnati. In 1946, it became the first prescription antihistamine approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Chemistry

Diphenhydramine, or 2-(diphenylmethoxy)-N,N-dimethylethanamine, is an organic compound belonging to the ethanolamine class. The chemical structure of diphenhydramine consists of an ethylamine chain with two methyl groups bonded to the terminal nitrogen group RN. Additionally, this ethylamine chain is substituted at R2 with a diphenylmethoxy group, forming an ether. The diphenylmethoxy group consists of two aromatic phenyl rings bonded to the carbon member of a methoxy group CH3O-.

DPH is produced as a hydrochloride salt.

Pharmacology

Diphenhydramine is an inverse agonist of the peripheral histamine H1 receptor and a central histamine H1 receptor. The peripheral inverse agonism induces the allergy reducing effects. Like many first-generation antihistamines, it is also a competitive antagonist at mACH receptors.

Diphenhydramine is an acetylcholine receptor antagonist. Although the precise mechanism is not understood, the inhibition of the action of acetylcholine is thought to be primarily responsible for the delirium, sedation and intensely realistic hallucinations alongside the extremely uncomfortable and dysphoric physical side effects.

Diphenhydramine has been shown to block sodium channels and inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. It also blocks voltage-gated potassium channels (VGKCs), meaning it has the potential to cause or lead to torsades de points, a potentially dangerous cardiac condition that can lead to sudden cardiac death.

The receptor binding affinities are listed as follows:

Receptor Site Binding Affinity (nM, Lower = Stronger) H1 9.6-16 H2 missing data H3 >10,000 H4 >10,000 M1 80-100 M2 120-490 M3 84-299 M4 53-112 M5 30-260 SERT ≥3,800

Subjective effects

According to user reports, diphenhydramine displays a non-linear dose-response, meaning the effects don't correspond directly with the dose. Doses under 300 mg are reported to produce restlessness, Muscle Relaxation, and a body high while doses above 500 mg begin to produce a state of delirium in which the user sees and hears fully-formed, extremely convincing hallucinations. Doses in between these two extremes are said to be uncomfortable and dysphoric. Nausea and bodily discomfort ("body load") is reported almost universally.

Disclaimer: The effects listed below cite the Subjective Effect Index (SEI), an open research literature based on anecdotal user reports and the personal analyses of PsychonautWiki contributors. As a result, they should be viewed with a healthy degree of skepticism.

It is also worth noting that these effects will not necessarily occur in a predictable or reliable manner, although higher doses are more liable to induce the full spectrum of effects. Likewise, adverse effects become increasingly likely with higher doses and may include addiction, severe injury, or death ☠. {{effects/base
