Template:Proofread Peripheral information misinterpretation can be defined as the experience of repeated mistakes regarding what one is perceiving within their peripheral vision. During this effect, one may perceive details within their peripheral vision as elaborate things which after momentary and more direct analysis, turn out to be an entirely false fabrication.

For example, one may see fleeting images, objects, people or events out of the corner of the eyes that are not really there. This component is greatly enhanced by the simultaneous experience of pattern recognition enhancement and as time progresses, the misinterpretations may begin to appear in direct view as fully fledged external hallucinations.

This component is commonly experienced under the influence of deliriants, stimulant psychosis and sleep deprivation.
