Template:Proofread Peripheral information misinterpretation can be defined as the experience of repeated mistakes regarding what one is perceiving within their peripheral vision. During this state, one may perceive details within their peripheral vision as elaborate things which after a more direct analysis, turn out to be an entirely false fabrication. For example, one may momentarily notice fleeting images, objects, people or events within their peripheral vision that are not really there.
This component is greatly enhanced by the often simultaneous experiences of pattern recognition enhancement and external hallucinations. It is most commonly experienced under the influence of deliriants, stimulant psychosis and sleep deprivation.
