Cotinine (also known as (5S)-1-methyl-5-(3-pyridyl)pyrrolidin-2-one and Scotine) is the main metabolite of nicotine. It binds to many of the same nicotinic acetylcholine receptors receptors at a lower potency.

Cotinine has a biological half-life of 20 hours.
