Increased perspiration, or hyperhidrosis, is the condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. The term diaphoresis is also used, and is essentially synonymous. Diaphoresis, however, is quite commonly used when extremely low blood pressure (shock) is also present. Consequently, the term diaphoresis is sometimes defined as "sweat shock syndrome". All terms refer to an abnormally large increase in sweating, regardless of the cause.[1]
