Suppression of anxiety can be described as the partial to complete suppression of a person’s ability to feel anxiety, nervousness, negative feelings of psychological tension, and general unease. The experience of this effect may decrease anxiety-related behavior such as rumination, muscular tension, panic attacks, and restlesness.
This effect often occurs with the use of psychoactive drugs including depressants such as benzodiazepines and opioids.
