Background

• Background: - After a long history with I.V. heroin use, I tried to mitigate the damage done to my body by this substance by snorting it. This is a tek of sorts and a general experience report for snorting 15mg-30mg of black tar heroin, which must be cooked in a method equivalent to the I.V. method to be snorted. I use this method for years as an alternative to I.V. drug use.

Materials

This chronicles how one can snort black tar heroin. The sticky, icky, consistency of this substance often makes it un snortable, but this process renders it so.

• Black tar heroin - This is the dirty, sticky, cut to shit version of heroin that southern Californians are used to. In its' gooey processed form it is unable to be snorted.

Black tar heroin in this form must be dissolved into water before it can be snorted.

• Syringe and Needle - The black tar is cooked in a method equivalent to the one found in the safe injection guide. I commonly used an I.V. insulin needle for this.

• Clean Water - I dissolve the heroin in water, being careful to not use too much as I do not want to snort too much water. The less water I used, the more concentrated the solution becomes. The concentrated solution creates a burning sensation in the nose, but I prefer it for it's potency.

• Spoon/Cooking Utensil - This is used to dissolve the heroin into sterile, distilled water as if I were injecting it.

• Filter - A micron filter is best, but I usually resorted to using a cotton q-tip for a filter. I do not re-use my filters, as this can lead to cotton fever and is a dangerous practice.

• Nasal Irrigator - I use this about an hour after snorting to clear my sinus passages of any impurities. I often saw black impurities exit my sinus cavities, which tells me that cotton may not be the best filter.

Procedure

1. Place the heroin into the spoon with the sterile water.
2. Apply heat until the substance dissolves.
3. Using an insulin needle and 1ml syringe barrel, I suck up the heroin solution into the syringe barrel through the filter, leaving out any large physical impurities. There is usually black gunk left in the spoon, and I do not want this in my body.
4. Instead of shooting this up intravenously, I carefully place the needle in my nose and push down on the plunger. This is how you snort black tar. The solution enters the sinus cavities and absorbs rapidly.

• Holding your head at the right angle for absorption is important, as tilting the head back can cause the solution to run down the throat and into the stomach

There is a minor "rush" of Cognitive euphoria and Physical euphoria once the solution hits my nasal passages. The rush can be quite nice and comparable to IV heroin, but with a longer duration and a smaller chance of overdose.

Effects analysis

Snorting heroin is a middle ground between smoking it and injecting it - you get the long duration of injection with the 'rush' of smoking, all while conserving your precious stash. This is extremely compulsive and harmful to the nasal cavity and it often led to sinus infections.

• Physical euphoria
• Cognitive euphoria
• Sedation
• Appetite suppression - This is coupled with the nausea and can lead to malnutrition and weight loss over time.
• Respiratory depression
• Itchiness
• Compulsive redosing
• Nausea - This is incredibly present for me, especially if I have a low tolerance to opiates.

Withdrawal effects

I usually snorted heroin for weeks at a time, and would experience these effects upon ceseation:

• Muscle contractions
• Muscle cramps
• Muscle spasms
• Physical fatigue
• Runny nose
• Restless leg syndrome
