Phenethylamine (compound)

Substituted phenethylamines, also known as phenethylamines, are a class of chemicals that include compounds with psychoactive effects.
Chemistry
Substituted phenethylamines are a chemical class based upon the molecule phenethylamine. Phenethylamine is made up of a benzene ring attached to a monoamine chain. The chemical structure of a substituted phenethylamine is the same as the organic molecule phenethylamine, except some of the hydrogen atoms are substituted for a different amino groups.
Pharmacology
The phenethylamine class of psychedelic drugs works via their action upon the 5-HT2A receptor.
Examples
Substituted phenethylamines are seen throughout organic chemistry, and include many neurotransmitters and psychoactive drugs.
