DILD is an acronym that stands for "Dream Initiated Lucid Dream", and was coined by Dr. Stephen LaBerge who was a psychophysiologist who specialized in Oneironautics. It is used to refer to any lucid dream where the oneironaut becomes aware that they are in a dream while inside it. This is in contrast to a WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) in which the oneironaut brings their woken awareness into a dream while falling asleep.
