A high res version of the PsychonautWiki logo by josificus. This symbol is a visual representation of a documented experience known as a state of unity and interconnectedness.

PsychonautWiki (PW) is a community driven encyclopaedia which is working to establish psychonautics (the exploration of consciousness) as a legitimate field of science. We intend to reach an understanding of the consciousness and the hallucinogenic experience through a formal documentation and analysis of the consistent subjective effects found within it.

We aim to do this through producing a phenomenological breakdown, documentation and analysis of the consistent subjective effects found within a wide variety of our differing methodologies in an extremely high level of detail. The PW community has done this from a purely phenomenological perspective that does not depend on analogy, metaphors or mysticism to convey its definitions. The effects themselves are documented, organized and mapped out through the use of example replications created via image, video and audio editing and formal literary descriptions, terminologies and definitions which are organized into the separate articles below,

PsychonautWiki currently has 2 articles.

History

PsychonautWiki was created to serve as a wider reaching, legitimate and community driven version of the well known drugs blog www.disregardeverythingisay.com. This is a website that was originally formed on August the 22nd 2011[1] by josificus as a project which was created as a deliberate attempt to map out the psychedelic experience in a satisfactory level of formal description that was seemingly non existent within any of the current scientific literature.

As the website progressively expanded and grew it quickly became increasingly obvious that tumblr was not going to be a suitable host for a project of this size. Thus on May the 11th 2013 PW was born and the format of an open community driven wiki was chosen so that the project could progress as quickly as possible and become entirely self sufficient in its own momentum.
