Muscimol (also known as agarin or pantherine) is a psychoactive substance primarily found in the Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita mushroom.
The active substance of muscimol acts as a strong GABAA receptor agonist, causing a sedative and dissociation type state when active in the brain.
