GABAergic hallucinogens are substances that increase the amount of GABA in the brain, or agonise the GABA receptors. Unlike many GABAergics, they, however, can also cause hallucinations and bizarre behavior. These hallucinations and behavioral changes are likely a result of GABAC, or GABAA-ρ agonism. The most well known of these drugs are talk:z-drugs
like zolpidem (Ambien) and amanita muscaria (fly agaric) mushrooms.
